To begin training your dog to stay, Let your dog sit down at your left side. It is just like the heel location but sitting down. Say “Stay” using a firm voice. Keep the leash with your left hand but don’t draw on it, Keep it slack. Raise your right hand up with your palm open in front of your dog.
